Creating a Space That Provides Opportunities Where Local Animators Can Strive
This initiative of E-IDCOT sets a foundation for tapping into a rapidly expanding global industry, thus presenting numerous opportunities for youth empowerment and successful entrepreneurship. E-IDCOT has become the leading force driving the development of a new creative industry sector in Tobago. Our animation initiative is geared towards providing opportunities to incubate and develop future animators into entrepreneurs.
Cove Tobago will open its doors to the island’s first Animation satellite hub. This state-of-the-art facility will offer year-round training in 2D and 3D animation software, motion graphics, programming and game design. Cove Tobago animators will also have an opportunity to work on local, regional, and international projects. Through this initiative E-IDCOT has also formed an animation group called Tobago Trekkers a young team of Tobagonians passionate about the art and telling their story.
In August 2016, the team won the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) & Animea Caribe Animation Acceleration Pitch competition and has received funding to help develop the project “Tobago Trek”. Tobago Trek is a local 2D animation series and game. The trailer for the animation series is schedule for release in 2022.
