E-IDCOT recognises the importance of enhancing the local capabilities of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in developing an economy. In pursuit of its mandate and in support of the enhancement of ICT in Tobago, E-IDCOT in conjunction with Telecommunications Services  of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), is seeking to establish a Tier III data center at Cove. This initiative is being executed by the joint venture company NUKLYUS. In establishing this facility, international best practice guidelines will be adopted in four (4) main areas: 

1. Architectural, including building and location.
2. Mechanical, including cooling, safety, fire suppression and security.
3. Electrical; and
4. Telecommunications, including uptime and reliability.

The proposed Data Center will be a Tier III TIA-942 Certified facility which will offer a 99.982% service availability.  Companies will have the option of renting customized or prepackaged  IT services and infrastructure or, purchasing their own equipment to be housed at Cove Tobago.

The company is currently conducting an assessment to determine the model to be adopted for this initiative.
